Tourist information Umbria

The region of Umbria is located in central Italy bordered to the north-east with the Marches, north-west of Tuscany, in the south-west with Lazio. The provinces that belong to it are the capital of Perugia and Terni. Its territory consists of the Umbria-Marche Apennines, whose highest peak is Mount Carrier (2477 meters). The whole area is composed of irregular valleys forming a sinuous landscape looking wonderful. There are many natural parks including nominate: the Park of Monte Cucco, the Park of Mount Suvasio, the Park of Lake Trasimeno and Colfiorito Park. In Umbria many folklore events take place famous throughout the world. Perugia is the largest province in the region and the main lake is Lake Trasimeno and the surface area of ??128 square km falls in fourth place in the ranking of the largest lakes in Italy. In this province there are 7 mountain communities and six regional nature parks such as the Park of Colfiorito or the Tiber River Park. The other is the province of Umbria Terni in which there are many artificial lakes such as Lake Corby, Lake Arezzo, Lake Recentino. The main protected areas with the aim will protect the waters and river ecosystems are the Tiber River Park and the Park of the Nera river.
