Tourist information Molise

The Molise region is located in southern Italy and is bordered to the north by Abruzzo, east of Lazio, south-west with Campania, south-east with Puglia and is washed by the Adriatic Sea. It consists of two provinces: the capital Campobasso and Isernia. Its territory is divided into three mountain areas which include the Monti della Meta, the Matese Mountains and a part of the Apennines Samnite. Its coast is washed for 40 km from the Adriatic Sea and is predominantly sandy, there is an artificial harbor which serves connections with the Tremiti Islands and Croatia, the Port of Termoli. The rivers that cross the Molise are mostly torrential and the principal are the Trigno (85 km), the Biferno (84 km) and Fortore (110 km). Of significant importance is the oasis of the WWF (Monte Mutria and Guardiaregia-Campochiaro), the fauna present in the territory of this region is large enough, among the many animals there are the deer, roe deer, wild boars, foxes, bears are also Marsican . The migration is one of the most ancient practices of Molise which consists of the migration of flocks from the hills and mountains to the coast and vice versa. In the province of Campobasso, the capital, there are only two lakes are artificial and among other things: Lake and Lake Guardialfiera Occhito, in addition to the limestone-marl formations seliciose we also find the mountain ridge of the Apennines.
