Tourist information Campania

Campania is a region that is located in southern Italy. It is bordered to the north by the Molise to the east by Apulia and Basilicata in the opposite side instead overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The provinces of Campania is Naples, which is the capital, Avellino Benevento, Salerno and Caserta. The territory of the region is hilly, mountainous and flat. The islands that make up the archipelago of Campania are: Ischia, Capri and Procida in addition there are two smaller islands that are Nisida and Vivara. The capital city of Campania is Naples with its dominant Vesuvius volcano active explosive that also the name of the national park. UNESCO declared the city a World Heritage Site Pompei and Herculaneum which were buried by the eruption of Vesuvius. Another Avellino province is not landlocked but is full of mountains rivers and lakes. The most important river is the heat which then flows into the Volturno. In the latter practice is very often hiking and water sports. Benevento is located in the heart of the southern Apennines. It is a province of the Campania region in which there are vast deposits of gray clay and colored marble paving stones and transparent. Salerno instead is one of the most diverse provinces of Italy. Other UNESCO World Heritage site is located on the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Peninsula, overlooking the Gulf of Salerno. In this province there are also the nation's Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano with archaeological sites of Paestum and Velia. Caserta is another province in the Campania region is made up of non-homogeneous territories. Its territory is formed by the Apennine mountain chain formed by the Matese massif consists of the highest mountains of the Campania region. The highest peak reaches the Monte Miletto (2020 m).
